TACO, Tiered Approach to Corrective Action Objectives, is a set of regulations instituted in 1997 in Illinois to provide flexibility and cost savings during site remediation (SRP) or in the case of a Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) incident.

TACOWithin the TACO guidelines, the degree of hazard is relatively gauged. For instance, a potential day care site is regarded more stringently than a proposed parking lot, and the subsequent remedial strategy altered accordingly.

TACO utilizes laboratory data, mathematical equations and site-specific facts to determine the correct cleanup objectives for each site, evaluating the balance of contaminants, exposure routes and potential users.
